So today we will learn about something awesome named water-repellent fiber. Have you ever been outside on a rainy day and got all wet? That’s not a fun experience and can be painful! But guess what? What do you mean by Water-Repellent Fiber?
A special kind of climbing material called a water-repellent fiber that ensures water doesn't slip into your precious climbing gear. You may wonder how it accomplishes this. You see, when water lands on the surface of this fiber, instead of being absorbed like it is in normal clothing, the water forms little beads. These droplets of water then bead right off of the fabric the same way that water will bead off the back of a duck! Isn’t that amazing?

So they can develop fibers that do different things than normal fibers can, and there by making them much better at keeping us dry.
